Country Program Manager, Australia Awards Bangladesh, Palladium Int.  

Collaborated with the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade in the delivery of Australia’s bilateral program and development efforts of Australia and Alumni with an aim to develop the Bangladesh portfolio. Led and developed a high-performing team, oversaw multi-million-dollar budgets and identified opportunities for international engagement, and built cross-sector connections, enhancing outcomes for First Nations representation in Bangladesh, enabling ongoing autonomous networks post-establishment.

Key achievements:
🔹Selected as the practice lead of Gender Equality, Disability Social Inclusion (GEDSI), executing innovative inclusion initiatives based on industry best practices and incorporating GEDSI      principles across programs through the leadership of the Australia Awards South Asia and Mongolia (AASAM) working group.
🔹Collaborated with key stakeholders internally and externally across government in developing annual strategic plans, setting strategic priorities in Bangladesh, leading to the execution and delivery of multiple initiatives and AASAM pertaining to indigenous knowledge and cultural exchange.
🔹Scoped, developed, and implemented the annual scholarship program, leading the interviewing, scoring, and shortlisting of candidates in close collaboration with internationally dispersed stakeholders across the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
🔹Leveraged diversity of thought, proposed, and influenced the engagement of two Australian First Nations representatives through the Australian Professional Opportunities program through the Dhaka Lit Festival.
🔹Improved engagement with the first office-based International Indigenous Day, an International Day of Disability, successfully delivering on the Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.
🔹Developed and delivered unconscious bias workshops in collaboration with the Australian High Commission, successfully increasing awareness of unconscious bias and its impacts, minimising influence on selection.

2014 - 2022

Associate Professor Global Studies, Faculty of Arts & Design, University of Canberra. Australia

Led development of a new program of study, the Global Perspectives Gender, Sex and Sexuality Course and Sustainable Development enhancing understanding of Gender, Sex and Sexuality across human history.

Key achievements:
🔹Led the Global Studies program, improving the program through developing and delivering courses, including Gender and Development, Global Perspectives on Gender, Sex and Sexuality, and International Human Rights.
🔹Conducted a review of the Global Studies program, establishing a new graduate program in International Development, increasing student interest in the subject matter area, resulting in subsequent enrolments.

2013 - 2014

Associate Dean Academic Affairs, College of Arts & Sciences, Qatar University, Qatar

​Established a knowledge database for the Associate Dean, Academic Affairs, building business continuity and governance structures surrounding the position. Led multidisciplinary teams of up to 375 people, navigating cultural differences and building strategic partnerships with key stakeholders across the university.

Key achievements:
🔹Served as a Chair of multiple committees, including the Curriculum Committee and member of the Accreditation Committee, Academic Program and Review and Curricula Enhancement Committee, leading collaborative, strategic decision-making processes and improving student performance and retention.
🔹Managed the review of 14 academic programs across 12 program heads, establishing best practices in delivering programs, successfully proposing, and implementing three new programs in 11 months, and improving accessibility to education.
🔹Project managed the accreditation of programs within the College of Arts and Sciences.

2010 - 2013

Associate Professor International Studies, Discipline Head Arts & Humanities, Faculty of Arts & Design. Studies. University of Canberra, Australia

 

Established a newly formed program, the Master of International Development, enhancing our program offering and increasing student enrolments across international and domestic students.

Key achievements:
🔹Managed a multi-million-dollar budget annually, assessed the viability and profitability of programs, and engaged subject matter experts in streamlining course offerings to inform viability and profitability further and ensure compliance with university policies and the Minimum Education Standards.
🔹Developed strategic partnerships with community organisations, the public sector and higher education institutions, strengthening policy design and implementation for community outreach and internships.
🔹Ensured continued staff engagement through a transparent approach to a major restructuring and introduction of performance evaluation frameworks.
🔹Selected as Discipline Head Arts and Humanities concurrently for a period of 20 months

2006 - 2009

Program Director, International Development, School of  Global Urban & Social Studies. RMIT University, Australia

Selected to revive the International Development Program on the verge of disestablishment, leading a team of 10 and reinvigorating the program’s performance, resulting in continued viability and exceptional future performance.

Key achievements:
🔹Conducted detailed analyses on our existing program, presenting a business case to the executive and delivering a 12-month plan to improve the program’s performance, resulting in the program breaking even in six months and becoming profitable in 12.
🔹Transformed the distance learning mode program from onshore and offshore to a digital online offering, as market leader in digital transformation of education, resulting in a reduction of resourcing costs, and enhancement of sustainable practices.

1999 - 2004

Lecturer/Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science,
University of The Punjab, Lahore, Pakistan

Established the Master by Research program, successfully influencing senior academic leadership across over 100 geographically dispersed colleges, leveraging global knowledge in the review of our qualification offering.

Key achievements:
🔹Pioneered the establishment of the Master by Research program despite initial resistance, which subsequently resulted in an improved curriculum and teaching approaches.
🔹Selected as a guest lecturer as a subject matter expert on Gender matters.
🔹Developed multiple courses educating our student cohorts across foreign policy, comparative politics, social science research methods, women and development and global issues.
